Line Editing

This editing process involves a wordsmith (me!) looking at your manuscript line by line to examine how you use words and give you detailed suggestions on how to better say what you are trying to say in a way that fits with the tone of the story and your writing style.

During this editing process, my goal is to give you the ability to provide strong, cohesive writing that will also be easy to read. This service is to help you communicate your story as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Here’s what you’ll get with this service:

• sentence structure & order/flow

• correction or highlight of confusing phrasing

• dialogue structure & formatting

• “show, don’t tell” will be pointed out & corrected

• passive voice will be replaced with active voice

• dialogue tags vs. action tags

• errors in spelling, grammar, & punctuation

• deletion or alteration of repetitive words or phrases

• basic fact-checking

• suggestions for better placement of the sentences, paragraphs, chapters, and scenes (if needed)

• word choice (to avoid cliches, repetitiveness, and cringe phrasing)

• deletion of unnecessary words or sentences

• basic manuscript formatting

• recorded feedback of what to watch for during line revisions
